Universal Contour Wraps - Lose those inches!

The Universal Contour Wrap is popular all year round but especially in the summer when clients are going on holiday, getting married, special occasion or simply to give them a kick start for a diet.

Remember this wrap system is the only one in the world that has science behind it and also the only one that offers a money back guarantee should you not lose at least 6 inches - so what have you got to lose!

Natural clay mined off the west coat of the US is heated up in a tank and special elasticated bandages are placed into the solution.

When the client arrives they must remove all clothing with the exception of pants - however I recommend g string underwear as the clay does not work through fabric - also please remember to bring a spare pair of pants to wear after you are unwrapped!

Also please note you will not lose inches off your bust as there are no toxins there :)

The client is then weighed and then a tape measure is used to measure different points around the body.

30 bandages are wrapped round each client and once wrapped the client will wear a special thermal suit for one hour while lying down on the therapy bed.  This is so the client does not become cold.

After the one hour the client is unwrapped and remeasured and the difference calculated and client advised of the result.

The Universal Contour Wrap is a two fold treatment, not only does it provide inch loss, your skin is gently exfoliated by the natural clay through the process so you are left with amazingly smooth skin which is great for heading to the beach or even applying spray tan.

If you plan to try one wrap for a special event make sure it is done at least 4 days before your event.

When booking the course of 3 wraps I recommend 7-10 days between each wrap and to ascertain  your start day I actually work it back from the day your event/ holiday starts.

With the Universal Contour wrap we recommend you do not shower/ bath for 4 days after treatment so if we go for a seven day gap between each wrap this is how I work it it.

From the day your event starts deduct 4 days of non showers so if you fly out on 14th July the 10th July would be your last wrap day with no showered for 4 days until the day you fly out. so your last wrap day would be 10th July and the 2nd wrap would be 3rd July and the first 26th June 2014.

I feel the nearer the time you leave it to start the wraps you will definitely reep more rewards and will be less inclined to over indulge before your event.

If you have any questions please just ask :)

Best wishes

When I started out waxing nearly 8 years ago I was advised not to wax a client during their time of the month (TOTM) and I adhered to that strictly for a couple of years and advised clients to plan their waxing appointment avoiding the week before and the time during their TOTM  The reason for this is you are much more sensitive to pain during those two weeks and why make waxing more unpleasant!

As time has gone on and I have long term clients its clear that not everyone is regular that they can set their clock to - in fact I would say irregular trumps regular so how on earth can my clients plans their waxing appointments.? Primarily I advised clients to book asap once it had finished but again this didn't work for clients who were having too frequent TOTMs so ultimately I decided that as long as my clients were happy for me to wax then we can go ahead.

On a regular basis I wax clients during their TOTM and this blog is to highlight I am happy to do that as long as my client is aware it may be more uncomfortable.  I really recommend first time waxing clients don't wax at this time because it can put them off waxing for life however regular clients have said its only slightly more uncomfortable. If your already a regular client venturing into waxing please have a chat with me.

There are lots of things you can do to make the waxing experience easier so please get in touch so we can make your waxing appointment more comfortable!

Best wishes

Beauty New Year Resolution 2017

Make a waxing schedule your New Year Beauty Resolution!

For those clients that have never waxed, those that have fell out of their waxing schedule or clients who only get a little waxed, if you’re looking for  a New Year Resolution that is doable and worth it in the end - why not pick waxing!

Winter time is the best time to start being waxed every 4 weeks and by the time Easter holiday’s come, you will start to see a visible and physical difference in hair growth and by the summer holidays you would be able to be hair free for your fortnight holiday as long as you’re in a ‘waxed every 4 week schedule’ starting from now!

I have lots of clients who have arrived at the salon who have never being waxed before and this is my most popular client – it’s so heartening when they commence  and commit to a waxing schedule in January and by the time their summer holiday  arrives the client is confident  they will be hair free for their fortnight holiday and Mr Razor isn’t required!

I have a lot of clients who are regularly waxed but the area I find most clients can be reluctant to have waxed is their legs – how good would it be not to shave your legs when you wear your shorts or your swimwear in the summer! – I know from personal experience it’s really hard to grow out leg hair  to the required waxing length (length of a grain of rice!) – no one wishes their hairy pins out on display! – so what better time to grow them out than in the winter when your legs  are hidden under tights and trousers and the party and social season takes a break in January/February. I use Pern Rigot strip wax on legs and my clients have been surprised at the minimal amount of discomfort during and post wax and remember the more regular you become waxed the less uncomfortable your treatment is at future appointments as we gradually break down the strength of the hair in that follicle. I can guarantee through a proper waxing schedule your hair growth will slow, the texture of your hair will become much finer and lighter in colour and eventually the follicle will  have no hair and that leads to hair free patches on your legs – surely its worth it!

I also still have clients that tackle their bikini area with hair removal creams and razors but this just means the hair is sure to appear through the holiday, regrowth can be itchy and  shaving can irritate the skin so it can look unsightly!   With waxing not only does it will not grow in itchy but that area will not need any tweaking while you’re on your fortnight holiday

So if you wish to talk about a waxing schedule starting now please feel free to Message me for advice if I can help in any way or just book in via the online diary! http://www.appointment-diary.com/appt/diary/viewStaffDiary.do

Winter is Coming - and those pesky ingrown hairs have come back!

I have had a few clients this week who have seen the dreaded ingrown hairs come back - sometimes this happens because they have not had the time to keep up their aftercare post wax but a big contributory factor that will affect most of my waxing clients is the change in weather at this time of year.

With the arrival of the colder weather means our skin is much more drier at this point than spring or summer and as you will all know dry skin is a major contributory factor in ingrown hairs.

To combat this I have positively encouraged clients to keep up their exfoliation after each shower/bath but to up the amount of baby oil they apply post wax to moisturise drier that normal skin.

You can also give this routine a helping hand with two products I retail on the salon - these are excellent for preventing ingrown hairs if used properly.

Waxperts Wonder Pads contain 40 pads and the client should use one after each shower so it will last you 40 days - this product has received great reviews and is new to the salon - they also suggest exfoliating at least 2 times a week - £9.99 for one tub

Perron Rigot Double Scrub - this is from the makers of the wax I use in the salon - I have several clients who use this and have also seen such an improvement they are on their 2nd purchase. It should be used 48 hours prior to waxing at shower time and then once a week so this product will last you a few months - £18.00 for one 150ml  tube

any question just ask me when your next in the salon :)

Mary Mary Quite Contrary - How does my hair grow?

Mary Mary Quite Contrary How Does My Hair Grow?

You know hair is a fascinating thing – its grows where we don’t want and doesn't grow where we want it ! It’s just not fair L

But did you know hair growth can be affected by a number of things:

Previous over plucking – this will over time decreases the regrowth of hair on eyebrows and may even lead to permanent non regrowth

Weather = hot and humid weather grows body hair and nails much quicker than hot weather due to heat and humidity - if you see a big improvement in nail growth and your head hair its more than likely it will affect all hair on your body!  That is why a lot of clients after returning from hot humid weather (Florida etc) they needs waxed much quicker.

Medication – different medications can either stunt hair growth or increase it two fold so please check the side effects of any medication you take – I find this is a major factor in changes in hair growth of clients

Health – poor health and low immunity, vitamin deficiencies and being run down can lead to poor hair growth – pregnancy on the other hand can lead to increased hair growth due to a change in hormones  that can kick start hair growth – this is especially visible in clients who have had IPL in the past and their pregnancy then kick starts the hair growth hormone and sometimes hair starts to grow back in the IPL area.

Diet – can have  a major impact on your hair – poor diet = poor hair condition = dry brittle hair = hair breaking when waxing = not a clean wax L

Underactive Thyroid – tend to have very sparse eyebrows due to this condition (I am proof!)

Age – your hair growth will slow down the older you get unless you are very unlucky!

Dry hair – if you have dry skin your likely to have dry hair – this type of hair is brittle

Humidity and Temperature – hair growth tends not to thrive in the cold but if its cold outside remember we put our house heating on so a warm house is ideal for hair growth – those that don’t use the heating much will see a decrease = when it’s hot and even better when humid be prepared to see an increased growth in your hair that is why the summer will see an increase in hair growth especially those clients who take overseas holidays in warmer climates so sometimes their wax will not last as long due to this.

I hope the above is useful for clients who get waxed!

Dry Skin? Read on and see how it can affect your waxing

Image result for dry skin

When I posted out a few days ago about waxing myths there was one that I had never thought about and may be affecting a very small amount of waxing clients so it’s worth drawing your attention to as its really food for thought.

I have a lot of clients including myself who suffer from very dry skin and when I researched dry skin it also said the sufferers were more likely to have dry brittle hair either on their head or on their body.

If I am waxing dry brittle weak hair there is more opportunity for it to break rather than it come out from the root and this over a prolonged period of time will not slow the hair grow or produce all the plus sides of being waxed regularly.

So if you’re a client that suffers from dry skin maybe moisturising and changing your diet may produce healthy strong  hair that is more effective when waxed and then you will reap the benefit of decreased hair growth

It’s very rare that clients don’t see a reduction – others factors that can increase growth in body hair are pregnancy, hormonal changes, medications etc

Also irregular waxing with long gap in between each waxing appointments and shaving in between will only promote hair growth L

Every day is a school day!

Bio Therapeutics Turbo Face Lift - Launching at the Valentines Day Fundraising Day!

How to roll back those years without surgery!

I’m so happy to announce we are finally launching our Bio Therapeutics Turbo Face Lift Treatment!

I apologise it has taken so long but I am sure you will all agree when you have the treatment it really was worth the wait.

As follows is a general description of the treatment without going too much into all the science and technology involved  - as there is a lot!

Basically the BT Turbo Face Lift Treatment provides a non-surgical face lift within a 30 min treatment appointment.

Your face will be cleanser, toned and moisturised with Bio Therapeutic products and then the BT Turbo Face Lift  procedure will follow.

The face lift probes are used in conjunction with micro current technology to re-educate your facial muscles  - The microcurrent treatment, as seen on OPRAH, is low level energy that stimulates chemical reactions on the natural body impulses at a cellular level for a firmer and smoother skin.  You may have a one of treatment where the lift lasts 3 days or a course of treatments so you have a more permanent effect – the course we recommend is twice a week for 4 continuous weeks then one treatment every 4-6 weeks to maintain the lift.

Not only does it perform a face Lift  Bio Therapeutics provides fantastic facial care products that are super hydrating for your face as they contain hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the body but plumps out skin which helps diminish wrinkles and pores as its ionized into the skin increases hydration which then plumps the skin and minimises pores and wrinkles.

This is a fab treatment for young and old – it’s great because its performed so quickly (BT Therapeutics are the only company in the world  to have dual probes so takes half the time of other micro current treatments), state of the art products and ingredients used, advanced technology used, treatment is comfortable for client and no down time (you can wear makeup straight after treatment) – it’s just amazing!

Cost of treatment is:

1 x Stand Alone Treatment

Booked prior to 1st March 2015 = £30
Booked after 1st March 2015 = £35

Course of 8 treatments

Booked Prior to 1st March but all 8 treatments used by 1st May 2015 - £220
