Welcome Nouvatan!

After a good think I decided to introduce Nouvatan to The Wax Factor.  I'm always looking for products that benefit my clients and I think I have this is Nouvatan.  I had last looked at stocking four years ago but decided on Vani-t but having had supply issues with the Vani-t body custard I looked for a replacement product and revisited Nouvatan.

Nouvatan was started in the owners kitchen in 2007 and it's made in Britain too so we are supporting a UK family business!

I've now tanned a few clients with Nouvatan express and they absolutely love the results - some left the colour on overnight and others showered after a few hours and they were over the moon with the results.  These are Vani-t regulars so they are accustomed to a high quality tan and this tan ticked that box!

As well as offering Nouvatan as a spray tan treatment I'm so confident in the product I have also heavily invested in there pre and post tan care retail range.

Nouveauglow is a body moisturise that also provides a gradual build up of colour with every application. Normally on a test I would apply each day but this time I applied every 8-10 hours to see the results quicker.  I was left with an even streak free tan not too dark although another application or two will make me much darker when I want that - it also lasted just over a week and fade was very even. I also found its a very rich product which means you dont need a lot so it lasts a long time.  Its also absorbs very quickly and doesn't feel sticky either. We are retailing the Nouvaglow at £12.50

We are also retailing Nouvaman Tanning Cream -  a spray tan specially formulated for male skin and the only make tanning product on the market . It retails at £15.00 and is a gradual tan

Other items I am stocking are Nouvatan tanning Mouse and Q10 oil free moisturiser which were featured in a recent edition of Cosmopolitan magazine. The Nouvatan Mouse produces the same colour as the spray tan and ideal for clients that wish a colour that night. I'm also stocking the oil free moisturiser which lengthens the wear of your tan being oil free as clients have advised its difficult to locate oil free moisturiser. We are retailing mouse at £16.50 and the moisturiser at £9.95.

Universal Contour Wraps - How does it work?

After 20 years is the Universal Contour Wrap still the best wrap on the market?

With all the new products that arrive on the market I always investigate these pretty thoroughly for the pro's and con's for my clients.  I always strive to bring in the best new advances in technology that are of benefit to my client - this is my foremost thought when introducing products to the salon - my clients all come first!

I trained in the Universal Contour Wrap two years ago having looked at circa 5 other alternative wraps and although not the cheapest treatment the results were a lot more substantial that the others on the market at that time.

Its worth explaining a bit about the Universal Contour Wrap which will help clients reach an educated conclusion if the Universal Contour Wrap is the right treatment for them or if there is an alternative on the market and that way its helps each client make their own decision.

Essentially the Universal Contour Wrap consists of hypoallergenic clay mined from the west coast of the USA and a specialised wrapping technique which helps draw out impurities and toxins out of the body whilst also sculpting a new shape for the body.  The clay also continues to work and draws out impurities several days after the wrap which is why I advise clients not to fully shower for up to 3 days after the unwrapping process - believe me if your losing more you wont shower and remember there is no smell to the clay :)

Clients love this treatment not just for the inch loss but for a healthy detox all in a 2 hour treatment!

The skin benefits are amazing for those clients that have dry skin and need a bit of a boost it acts as a skin exfoliator which leaves you with silky soft skin ready for the beach or a spray tan!

Another question I am asked is if undertaking the course of three when should you take the three treatments? If its for a specific event i.e. wedding or holiday I work it back in weeks - I suggest a wrap is done each 7-10 days and remember to add on 3 days at the end for the no shower time so you are clay free for the event!

My clients have these wrap for various reasons - maybe its a wedding either bride, bridesmaid or guest, holiday, kick start a diet plan and some clients even have it for the skin benefits alone and this is a unisex treatment so my male and female client book this treatment.

I'm also asked how to maintain the inch loss - the answer is easy its just like a diet if you start to overindulge then you will start to reintroduce the toxins to your body and you will gain weight and reduce the inch loss you have achieved. Overindulging will put you back to square one but many of my clients have found the aftercare easy to follow and have reaped the rewards as they lose more inches in the following days post wrap.

Vinylux is here!

Well CND never ceases to amaze me. Their products are always at the forefront of technology (the main reason I use their products in the salon if I am honest) and they are always meeting the needs of clients. Nearly 5 weeks ago they launched CND Vinylux – a nail polish that lasts up to 7 days chip free with proper aftercare - can this be true?

Well the proof, as they say, is in the pudding so on a recent family holiday I tested this product on my 4 young nieces and my sister – the nail biter! Sure enough I found they lasted much longer than traditional polish. One niece had chip free nails for 4 days despite being in and out of a swimming pool and in kids clubs, which is nothing short of a miracle.  The biter lasted two days before they were nibbled, you can’t win them all!!

The other dream about this polish is that it doesn't require a base coat, just two coats of polish then top coat and in 8.5 minutes nails are dry and good to go! Believe me I tried this and it dries so quickly I have to be fast applying the polish to keep up!

The CND Vinylux Top Coat is the magic behind this new product.  It actually hardens the polish more and more each day with the contact with UV light. No other top coat works with CND Vinylux that produces the 7 day chip free benefit - I have tried!

Who will this appeal to? This isn't a replacement for Shellac as its a different type of product. Vinylux is ideal for clients with healthy natural nails, those that like changing the colour of the nails frequently, clients who work in environments where nail colour is not permitted (nurse and nursery nurse clients this one’s for you!). Also if clients normally wear Shellac but want to take a breather from it, Vinylux can be the replacement for that night out in between.

There are 62 colours to choose from with 32 from the  Shellac range of colours so you can even use this as a cover for your Shellac to extend the length of that treatment when your Shellac starts to grow out at the base.

The Wax Factor will  be providing a Vinylux Fingernail File and Polish service at £10 (treatment time 15 minutes) Bookable on the online appointment diary so ideal for clients that can’t get in the diary for Shellac as it’s a much shorter treatment time. This is an express service so no cuticle work will be undertaken and this reflects the treatment price.

The only thing I have found is CND Vinylux is great on healthy nails, they don't have to be long just healthy.  If you have ridges on your nails or have had nail extensions on and your nail plate is not smooth CND Vinylux is not like Shellac - it wont cover the grooves:( I would not recommend CND Vinylux for these clients. This applys also for ridged toes.

CND Vinylux is also great on toes but again clients with ridges will not get the coverage with CND Vinylux.  

Toes are also £10 but its a file and polish express service - if the client requires clipping for the toes nails because of excess length then those clients will have to upgrade to the Deluxe CND Vinylux Service at £15 as this is an extended service.

If clients require their Shellac removed prior to CND Vinylux application the standard charge of £5 to remove Shellac apply's.

The other great thing is The Wax Factor are also retailing the CND Vinylux Colour Polish for clients to purchase and take home!

Until 30^th June 2013 The Wax Factor has a special introductory offer of One Vinylux Colour Polish and One Vinylux Top Coat for £16.95, a saving of £3.00. Please note the top coat is only applied once as it’s a weekly top coat so this will last a long time. You must use the CND Vinylux Top Coat with your Vinylux as they are specifically designed to complement each other – if you use another top coat it won’t work as its not compatible with the Vinylux system and you wont get the 7 day chip free.

Vinylux Colour Polish and Vinylux Top Coats retail at £9.99 which is comparable to other high end polishes on the market that don’t have the longevity of CND Vinylux.

I have a really good feeling about this product and I think being it will be launched just before the summer months, so this is ideal for clients to try a new Nail Treatment from The Wax Factor where we strive to bring you the most up to date products launched on the market!

The Sun is Shining!.....

What a difference the suns makes when its makes an appearance - lovely sunny days are so much nicer than the wind, rain and snow! 

As we head into spring I think of what treatments my clients would like to see this year! Im introducing a couple more new products this year (no doubt will increase!) The first being Brisa Lite from CND Nails - this is a rather nail revolutionary product and one I've waited a long time to be developed - Brisa Lite provides two different products under the Brisa Lite name both of which are now at The Wax Factor.

The first product is Brisa Lite Sculptinging Gel - its like the primer you use before make up - well this is primer for your nails before you use Shellac/Mani-q - it makes your Shellac and Mani-q last 1 week longer , your nails are super strong and feels great to wear.  You could use this with a colour such as Shellac or Mani-q or it has dual purpose of strengthening week and flaky nails so ideal as a clear manicure for clients wishing to add strength to their own natural nails without colour. Treatment cost is £25 for Brisa Lite Strengthening Gel and Shellac/Mani-Q colour or £20 for Brisa Lite Strengthening Gel overlay (no colour)

The 2nd product from the Brisa Lite range is their Sculpting Gel used for those that require added length unlike hisorical nail extensions where your natural nail was buffed before acrylic/gel application, no buffing of the natural nail is required when using Brisa Lite Sculpting Gel - also the first coat that is placed on the natural nail is Brisa Lite Base Coat - a very similar product to Shellac base coat which means at removal no damage is done to the natural nail - also at The Wax Factor in the next few weeks when we roll out the scultping treatment we wont be using tips just sculpting which means no glue will touch the natural nail so again no damaged and also scultpted tips are much stronger than glue on tips.
